The political divide between the Left and Right in America has steadily widened since the election of Barack Obama, who then did everything he could to deepen that divide through the pursuit of domestic policies aimed at tearing down traditional American values and upending cultural norms and mores.
After eight years of Obama’s Left-wing, Marxist-revolutionary governing style, he created a base of sycophantic, die-hard supporters who were then expected to advance his “fundamental transformation” with the election of his protected successor, Hillary Clinton.
Donald Trump’s wholly unpredicted and unexpected victory in November put the brakes on all of that, however. But Trump’s victory made the “progressive” Left apoplectic, filled them with rage and now, they are brimming with hatred.
The result is nothing less than catastrophic for a nation that once prided itself on its ability to tolerate and even promote ideological discourse: A political divide so wide there is no hope of bridging the gap. And as such, as more political observers are beginning to understand, there is only one way this all ends: Violently. (Related: CIVIL WAR: Violent Leftists openly call for death of Trump supporters.)
In a recent column published at Breitbart News, Pamela Geller not only points out that the Left is the real driver of today’s political unrest, but that its leaders have been “at war with America” for many years.
“The Right represents those of us who favor individual freedom and capitalism — and the left are those who want government controls and socialism,” she writes.
Geller also noted that the use of political violence to usher in social change has been the Left’s modus operandi for decades, beginning during the 1960s with protests not only against the Vietnam War but also much of traditional America. Not all of their agenda was bad, as some changes — especially as they pertained to racial and gender equality issues — were definitely needed.
Those goals were eventually accomplished peacefully, through legislation. However, that didn’t satisfy the Left; it more or less wanted to tear down traditional America, it’s founding ideals of individual freedom, liberty and small-government republicanism during what she deemed the “decade of destruction.”
“The Left is evil, and they mean to destroy our way of life, our freedom and us,” Geller writes. “It took decades to norm their anti-Americanism, their hatred of freedom and individual rights, they they have reached their tipping point. And the long beaten and battered among us have had it.”
She then quotes Ayn Rand, famous libertarian thinker, who years ago observed that Left-wing movements advocating continued ‘civil unrest’ with the goal of denying others’ rights is done for one purpose only:
The attempt to solve social problems by means of physical force is what a civilized society is established to prevent. … Politically, mass civil disobedience is appropriate only as a prelude to civil war—as the declaration of a total break with a country’s political institutions.
Who can doubt that’s what today’s Left-wing leaders seek to accomplish — a total break from our political institutions (under Trump)?
“The left is targeting the most powerful office in the world — the Presidency. But, as the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise and others at the Congressional baseball practice shows, they’re targeting everyone on the Right. There will be more of this,” Geller predicts (and we happen to agree).
She noted further that those on the Right are habitually attacked, beaten, banned from speaking and otherwise intimidated — on college campuses, at “free speech” events and elsewhere.
“The deck is stacked against us. We must get off the defense,” she wrote.
Conservative author, former GOP presidential contender and Nixon White House speechwriter Pat Buchanan also sees storm clouds brewing. In his own June 12 syndicated column, he wrote of his views that civil war in America seems more likely:
We are approaching something of a civil war where the capital city seeks the overthrow of the sovereign and its own restoration.
And why? Because the Left has refused all reasonable efforts at rapprochement.
This won’t end well.
